In August 1998, Cindi, my brother Scot, Ken and I joined Rob Freeman in Ellensburg, WA to get paragliding lessons. Cindi, Ken and I took a 6 day course with Mike Eberle at North American Paragliding that got us halfway to our USHGA Para 1 certification. The sight of Cindi (who's afraid of commercial aviation) running off an 1800 foot cliff was truly surreal. Unfortunately, our house purchase puts a pair of new paragliding rigs (roughly $10K) temporarily out of our reach.
